Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday 8 AM-4 PM MT
Pay Band: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Overview:
Internet Archive Canada is seeking a Digitization Coordinator to lead our Alberta Digitzation Centre. In this pivotal role, you will manage a team of three Scribe Operators, handling daily production tasks while ensuring the smooth operation and management of digitization projects. You will oversee workflow, materials handling, partner onboarding, metadata ingestion, staff training, and equipment maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production and Workflow Management:
  • Manage daily production tasks and oversee the digitization workflow to ensure efficient use of equipment and care of materials.
  • Coach team members to optimize production and quality, and achieve project goals.
  • Engage in daily production work along with the other staff, to meet production targets, troubleshoot challenging material and shape workflows.
  • Identifying and remediating hazards to employees or materials in the work area.
  • Partner Onboarding and Support:
  • Assist with onboarding new digitization partners and projects, ensuring compliance with digitization standards.
  • Provide ongoing support, addressing any issues and facilitating smooth collaboration with project partners.
  • Metadata and Equipment Oversight:
  • Ensure accurate and consistent metadata ingestion for materials being digitized.
  • Setup, maintain, and assist in troubleshooting digitization equipment across various sites in Canada.
  • Staff Development:
  • Train staff on digitization processes, equipment use, and quality control.
  • Evaluate performance and provide feedback to management in order to maintain high standards of work.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in digitization or digital archiving, with a strong understanding of digitization processes and equipment.
  • Proven ability to perform and manage production tasks. Experience in a digitization or archival setting is a plus.
  • Experience with camera equipment and photography.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Mac/Linux and Windows environments.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently in remote settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel for training and to support new and ongoing digitization sites across Canada.

Physical/Special Requirements:
  • Mobility: Frequent walking to accomplish tasks and pick up materials.
  • Handling: Lift and move objects up to 25 pounds and manage physical tasks associated with digitization equipment.
  • Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity to discern color and fine details to monitor digitization processes and ensure quality.
  • Concentration: Ability to remain focused despite internal and external distractions.
